All the best cowboys have daddy issues
Promise of an alibi
you talk and talk as if i care
gave me a book i left it there
cant seem to help yourself
seven ways to fix your life
seven ways to leave tonight
first in line
I cant help myself
i cant begin againyou’re like a private investigator
a last minute savior
a means to an end
the promise of an alibi
a way to sleep it off tonight
lost in debt
i cant help myself
i cant begin againstand up, stand up be a man

This song comes from a riff I had lying around forever, and one night I just kinda changed up what I was singing over, a like donkey magic came up with the structure (what little there is) and lyrics in one sitting. When I was writing it, there was this crazy noise that I could hear inside my garage, I couldn’t tell if it was coming from the little league field a few miles away or if it was someones TV really loud, but it was extremely creepy. You always want to be there for the ones you love, and sometimes it just doesn’t work out that way.
Just keep in mind that this is a demo, so there are some problems with it.
Silhouette
Silhouette, suddenly, catch a glimpse of who you want to be
Settle in, settle down
A ghost creates thats awful soundSome will try, most will stall
Won’t be there to break your fallGotta fight, gotta play, theres so much you’ve got planned today
Rest your head on yellow sheets
The world is safer underneathSome will try, most will stall
Won’t be there to break your fall

yeah so the name of this song is still death cab, if only cause of one riff of the song reminds us of a death cab tune. we have thrown around titles to this song, the funniest one I came up with is probably “I’m an adult”, but even that seems wrong. Stays death cab for now.
Death Cab
You never answer the phone
And when you do I’m on hold
Hey where’d you get that dress?
I’ve never seen it beforeYeah you make me curse, for real
You just can’t hide the facts
And words can not concealIts been 7 months
Its been 11 years
My heart is breaking from the stress
Of falling on deaf ears

Most of the lyrics, as I remember were written by Benson Krause a good friend of mine that I collaborated with musically over the years. I have an idea of what the song is about, but it’s one thing I never got to ask him
Forced to follow
roll over face your brown eyes to the grass
forced to show her tomorrows lies become the past
eating up your sorrows making room for more
forced to follow footsteps on the shorehey i wont be taken away
start over, take your mind back to the past
you know you loved her, this love was supposed to last
the rules destroyed her, ripped her soul in half
death avoids her, to young to die she laughshey i wont be taken away
roll over face your blue eyes to the glass
forced to show her, tomorrows accidents become the past
eating up your shadows making room for more
forced to follow, footsteps on the shore
forced to follow

Until pretty recently, I only slept a few hours a night. Amazing what stress and an unhealthy lifestyle will do to you. Sorry about that glitch somewheres toward the middle, garageband ftw?
Turn to sleep
im so tired it robs my life
seems its better if i could close my eyes
so softly lullabywhy cant i sleep, why cant i dream
you used to be more fun, not afraid of fisticuffs
coffee mugs and magazine, tattered shirts and dirty jeans
why cant you seem unbroken red handed light emboldened
church and god and man unspoken
youve turned aroundsleep comes and youre all alone
electrical fields still aglow
bottle of bravery, stick and stones
tarred up hollow inside your lung
youve turned around

This was a song that Ant first came up with a bassline for, then slowly took shape during practice. One night at my house we were jamming till late, and he gave me the theme of what he envisioned the song to be about, essentially lost love. Or something like that. It really came together once the drums took shape.
108
Where were you, when we felt the same
Our hearts were bare, intentions tame
Save my love, save my loveInnocence, so trivial
Circumstance, pitiful
Save my love, save my loveIn my mind, your perfect stance
So hard to feel, or understand
Paths obscured, steps erased
Broken glance from your perfect face
Save my loveLost with out you
If you can’t tell we watch ABC too much.
